Good evening, my name is Daniel Sicurello. I was introduced to "FAV" about three weeks ago by an amazing woman by the name of Anna Mohr. I was very much inspired by what she had told me regarding her distraught situation regarding her brother, who i've never met, but can only imagine how in credibly strong will minded he is to conquer the trials of his experience. What opened my eyes was how a fantastic website as such can help so many fans place sports in it proper perspective. I'm a 31 year old Argentine/Italian. Soccer runs very strong in my family. In Buenos Aires, Argentina in a town of "La Boca", there resides a soccer club favorite of mine named 'Boca Juniors'. In our family, when Boca Jr.s play, its a festival. We all get together with almost every neighbor down the block and have an enormous barbecue {as us Argentine s are properly known for} on the streets. Stores close on purpose to join with us. As the hour of the match draws nigh, we all walk towards the stadium. Seems like an exodus of our dwelling into the mecca named "La Bombonera", The stadium Boca Jr.s play. The sight is surreal and can be seen on youtube. It's one of the great past times i love to share. Though unfortunately, some fans forget about the meaning of this event and begin to take their passion of their club to another level. An unwarranted violent one. It supersedes anything ever witnessed in a disgusting and cruel fashion. Incomprehensible fights break out due to a teams allegiance over a visiting fan, as they feel those in different colored jerseys are trespassing. These hooligans lose consciousness that the people they hurt trigger an unfathomable domino effect. The moment they reason and realize what they have done, it's too little too late. Families of the respective injured fan are grieving and some are in mourning. It pains me to hear that this horror has spread to the United States in every sport venue. Playing Quarterback at John Adams High school in 1999 in Queens, New York, all of our games were away due to our home turf deemed unsafe to play. I remember our fans & cheer leaders being ridiculed and taunted. It prompted me to think back in my earlier years in Buenos Aires: "Does society convey such a poor sportsman ship to kids at such a young age?" This is why i vow to be an advocate of this website. I've seen first hand what malice there is within a "simple game". It can all change with the proper attitude and loud message positive message that can send shock waves not only in the States, but across the world. Let's help open the minds of children, adults and old timers as well to enjoy their respective games with out injuring or harming any one. I would like to add that i have always enjoyed either going to a Jets Game {best Footbal team ever!!}, Boca Match venue and just lose myself in those 4-5 hours with friends and family. I feel i have been brought up to love the moment at such a young age. Squeeze as much fun out of it as possible with the people and team you so dearly hold close to your heart. I strongly feel if we all as one can join together against sports violence, we can set the precedence for centuries to follow. In Closing, as Lyndon B.Johnson stated so eloquently: "Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and it must be taken one step at a time." In my humble Opinion, This website has the potential to attain leaps and bounds at a time. God Bless-16 *The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.*
